Why NFP Life® is a helpful place to begin

NFP Life® is designed for people who want more than basic period tracking.

The course helps you understand the difference between general cycle tracking and true fertility awareness. It introduces the major signs of fertility, explains why ovulation matters, and helps you see how charting can support better communication, better body literacy, and better reproductive health awareness.

You will learn

  • What Natural Family Planning is

  • Why ovulation is the key event in the menstrual cycle
  • How biomarkers help identify fertile and infertile windows
  • How cervical mucus, basal body temperature, and LH can be tracked
  • How charting may help identify patterns related to reproductive health
  • How different NFP methods compare
  • Why communication matters when couples practice NFP together

For women and couples

A course for women and couples

NFP is often introduced as something women need to learn, but NFP Life® presents it as something couples can understand together.

For women, the course helps build body literacy. It explains the natural signs of fertility and shows how those signs can change throughout the cycle.

For couples, the course encourages shared responsibility. Natural Family Planning works best when both people understand the process, communicate clearly, and make decisions together.

This makes NFP Life® especially useful for

  • Women who want to better understand their cycles
  • Engaged couples preparing for marriage
  • Married couples exploring natural family planning
  • Couples who want to achieve pregnancy
  • Couples who want to postpone pregnancy
  • People who want to understand the health information their cycle may reveal
  • Anyone looking for a structured introduction before choosing a specific NFP method or instructor

Inside the course

What you'll learn inside NFP Life®

Introduction to Natural Family Planning

The course begins by explaining what Natural Family Planning is and how it differs from artificial contraception and basic period tracking.

You'll learn how NFP uses the naturally occurring fertile and infertile windows within a woman's cycle. You'll also learn why NFP does not rely on drugs, devices, or surgical procedures.

The benefits of Natural Family Planning

NFP Life® explains how NFP can support communication, respect, and shared decision-making within a relationship.

The course also introduces the health awareness side of charting. When a woman tracks her cycle consistently, she may be able to recognize patterns that help her have more informed conversations with a physician or fertility care professional.

The science and methods of NFP

NFP Life® introduces several reliable methods, including Billings Ovulation, Creighton, and Sympto-Thermal approaches.

The course does not present NFP as a one-size-fits-all system. Instead, it helps women and couples understand that different methods may fit different goals, health situations, and lifestyles.

Biomarkers and fertility signs

A major part of the course focuses on biomarkers, the signs a woman's body gives that help identify fertile and infertile days.

The course introduces:

  • Cervical mucus
  • Basal body temperature
  • LH in urine
  • Daily observation
  • Charting options
  • Method selection
  • Consistency in tracking

Presenters

Taught by experienced presenters

NFP Life® is presented by people with practical, medical, and fertility care experience.

Kyle and Dr. Danielle Koestner bring both marriage and medical perspective to the course. Dr. Koestner is a Family Medicine OB physician with experience in full-scope family medicine and deliveries. She also works with the FEMM Health Medical Education Team and the Billings Ovulation Team.

The course also features Daria Bailey and Natalie Klinkhammer of Groesbeck Fertility Care Center. Both are Certified Fertility Care Practitioners in the Creighton Method, and Natalie is also an RN, BSN.

That combination gives the course a useful balance: approachable enough for beginners, but grounded in real fertility education experience.

Honest framing

Is NFP Life® Catholic?

Yes, NFP Life® includes Catholic teaching on human sexuality, conjugal love, and responsible parenthood.

That makes it especially helpful for Catholic couples, including engaged couples who need to complete a Natural Family Planning course as part of marriage preparation.

At the same time, many of the course's core lessons are useful for a broader audience. If you are not Catholic but want a clear introduction to Natural Family Planning, fertility awareness, biomarkers, and cycle charting, NFP Life® can still be a helpful resource.

Is this a complete method-specific NFP certification?

NFP Life® is best understood as a foundational course.

It gives you a clear overview of Natural Family Planning, introduces reliable methods, and helps you understand the body's fertility signs. It is a strong starting point before choosing a specific method, instructor, or deeper training path.

For medical questions, irregular cycles, infertility concerns, postpartum charting, PCOS, severe symptoms, or complex reproductive health issues, you should work directly with a qualified medical professional or certified fertility care practitioner.
