Basal Body Temperature (BBT)
Your body temperature at complete rest, taken immediately upon waking.
BBT rises after ovulation due to progesterone and helps confirm that ovulation has occurred.
Because the temperature shift happens after ovulation, BBT alone cannot predict the fertile window, it confirms it in retrospect. This is why most modern methods combine BBT with cervical mucus or hormone monitoring.
